buy and hold Sep 28, 2019
Hello! I'm Diana and I started selling on Amazon in 2014. At the time, I was working Monday – Saturday at a full-time job. I dived into Amazon and about 18 months later, I was able to quit that 50-hour work week to stay home. While I worked on Amazon, I also took care of my disabled mother. She lives with my husband and me and requires a lot of attention.
I was doing very well with selling shoes on Amazon, but in March 2018, my husband had a heart surgery with a long and tough recovery. I put my Amazon business on hold. I went 4 months without sourcing new inventory as my priority was to take care of him. He's doing great now, but after he recovered, I wasn't motivated to get back into Amazon FBA at the same level that I was at before.
I've been focusing on building up my Print on Demand business, but for my husband to retire soon, I need to get my Amazon sales back up again to where they were. I'm very thankful that I learned about Greg Webb and his Buy and Hold'em Mastermind Group as that'll help me do that.
BUY AND HOLD'EM GROUP
For those of you that aren't familiar with Greg's Buy and Hold strategy, he buys inventory (mostly toys) at a low price and holds them until the price goes up.
For example, he'll do his research and find a $10 Walmart toy on clearance that has a history of selling for $50 on Amazon during Q4 or when Amazon is out of stock. He'll then use BrickSeek to find the Walmarts in his area that have the toy in stock and then he'll go to each one and buy them all up. He then holds them at home until the selling price on Amazon is high again.
I joined Greg's group in July 2019 and am amazed at how he has grown his Amazon business with this strategy. What's more amazing is that he does this while working full-time. Just hearing about how he gets up early in the morning, drives one or more hours to Walmart or Target to pick up the toys he researched, then drives back, and is at work by 9 am just blows me away. His story motivated me to get serious about Amazon again. I have no reason not to follow Greg's strategy especially since I'm surrounded by multiple Targets and Walmarts all just 10-20 minutes away.
After joining the group, I spent two weeks listening to his monthly webinar replays while at the gym. He shares so much information. You'll learn how he uses Keepa and BrickSeek to implement his Buy and Hold strategy. You'll also learn how he:
- organizes his desk, work area, and inventory receipts
- stores his inventory at home – they're prepped and ready to be shipped to Amazon
- decides when to send his inventory in
When you join the group, you'll also get access to the WhatsApp group. This is where group members share tips, finds, ask questions, and help each other out. Greg posts numerous finds and what I like is that not only does he share specific products, but he also explains WHY he's posting it. This way you're learning how to analyze products on your own rather than just getting a list of products to buy.
$26 TOY PROFIT!
One of the items that Greg posted in the WhatsApp group was a Target toy that was selling for $27. This was in July and at the time it was selling for $54 on Amazon, but Greg said that it sold for $75 during the last 2 Q4's. I bought 10 of them and followed his tips that he shares in the webinars. I listed it in InventoryLab, prepped it, and then stored it. Every so often, I'd check the selling price on Amazon and in August, the price on Amazon was at $70. I shipped 7 of them in and 5 sold! I earned over $26 in profit on each one.
Profits from the Target Toy
I have another toy that I may send in soon because the profit is up to $20 with 100% ROI. I'm sure I'll get more money if I hold on to it longer, but I do need to clear up some storage space at home.
GET READY FOR Q4 WITH THE GROUP
The WhatsApp group is very active and I can't always keep up with all the discussions. It's nice that they add the finds to a Google Sheets spreadsheet. This makes it easy to go through the finds and research each one of them. However, I also like reading about them in the WhatsApp group so you know why Greg recommends the items.
After I purchase one, I log the normal purchase information in my spreadsheet – product, store name, buy cost, etc. But in the last column, I'll copy and paste Greg's notes about it from the WhatsApp group. This way I'll have an idea on when to send it in and what the expected top selling price will be.
The Buy and Hold strategy saves me time on sourcing as now I just research the items at home. I admit that I haven't utilized BrickSeek like Greg does though. For now, I buy the items online and have them shipped to me or to the local store to pick up later.
I've purchased many of the WhatsApp finds and am holding them. I'm very excited about this year's Q4 because I already have lots of inventory purchased, prepped, and ready to ship in!
Get a head start on Q4 too by joining the Buy and Hold'em Group! Here's the link to learn more about it and to sign up =>> Greg Webb's Buy and Hold'em Quarterly Mastermind Group.
